Weedle is another NU Pokemon that suffers from such a limited movepool that it's impossible to surprise the opponent with any of your attacks. Still, Weedle boasts higher Speed and Attack than its Caterpie bretheren, although the addition of a Poison element doesn't help it much. Bug Bite is your main STAB move that dents many NUs, including Ralts, Caterpie, Metapod, Seedot, Lotad and Turtwig. Poison Sting hits most of those Pokemon for super-effective damage as well, although the damage decrease is usually not worth the chance of poisoning the foe.

Weedle makes a decent sweeper in NU, especially since most of the NU tier is weak to both of its attacks. However, Weedle's can be easily predicted with its only assetable attack being Bug Bite, and so it's best to pair Weedle with a Pokemon like Piplup, Spheal or Squirtle, who can take on common switch-ins to Weedle, namely Zubat and Starly. Weedle also has a huge issue with both Nidoran species since both Poison and Bug are resisted by them. This makes an offensive form of Ralts
useful for a team using Weedle if the foe is using Nidoran-F, but Nidoran-M may carry Sucker Punch that can end Ralts. A usable alternative to both Pokemon includes
Poochyena, who is resistant to Sucker Punch, and can hit both Nidorans hard with a STAB Crunch.

Zubat is the number one counter for Weedle in NU, as it is x4 resistant to Bug Bite, and cannot be poisoned, while threatening Weedle with a multitude of attacks, including Sludge Bomb, Heat Wave and Air Slash. While Ralts doesn't enjoy Bug Bite, it can outspeed Weedle, and hit it with a STAB Psychic for a KO. Cyndaquil is also resistant to Bug Bite, and can KO with Flamethrower almost all the time. Both Nidorans also work, being immune to poison and resistant to Bug Bite.
