Much like Scarf Porygon-Z,
Porygon makes a decent revenge killer in NFE. However, even with a
Choice Scarf, Porygon is outsped by max Speed Sneasel, Grovyle,
Eletabuzz, Haunter, Yanma, Golbat and Poliwhirl, which makes this set
less effective in OU NFE play. In UU, however, only Poliwhirl from that
list is a notable threat. The Speed EVs allow you to outspeed anything
slower than max Speed Monferno, including Skiploom and Gastly. Trick is
a useful move to aid in a set-up later on in the game, while
Thunderbolt and Ice Beam combine for the BoltBeam combo, while both
still being Porygon's best attacking options. Tri Attack is obviously
for STAB, and is your main attacking move.

Porygon's passable defenses and
access to a reliable recovery move makes it a potent wall in UU NFE.
Thunder Wave is for general annoyance, and makes up for Porygon's
barely passable Speed, letting you use Recover before the opponent has
a chance to KO you when used at the correct time. Hidden Power Water
and Tri Attack provide an unresisted attacking combo, while giving
Porygon a reliable STAB attack. Both abilities can work for this set,
although Trace is generally more useful, as many UU NFE Pokemon will
not enjoy having their abilities traced, such as Poliwhirl, Riolu,
Drowzee, HootHoot and Vibrava.

The Scarf variant works well for
a revenge killer, although its immunity to Ghost attacks usually proves
harder to exploit with Duskull, the most common UU NFE Ghost-type.
However, it can take advantage of Shadow Balls from Gastly, Shuppet,
Drifloon and Eevee, and revenge kill with the appropriate attack. Fast
and somewhat frail Ghost- and Psychic-types such as Abra, Smoochum,
Meditite and Natu can serve as lures for Shadow Sneak or fast Shadow
Ball-users, giving Porygon a chance to switch-in unharmed. Meditite
works best as a switch-out from Porygon from the Pokemon listed, and
can take advantage of the paralysis that Thunder Wave brings to set-up
with Calm Mind or Bulk Up.

In UU, Croagunk can outspeed the
Choice Scarf variant with Vacuum Wave, and bypass the Speed factor,
although Croagunk will not likely survive an attack from that set.
Chinchou resists BoltBeam, and can use Thunder Wave on Porygon to
considerably cripple the Choice Scarf set, while being able to use
Toxic on the mixed wall set. Poliwhirl outspeeds even the Choice Scarf
set, and can hit with Brick Break. Drowzee has high-enough Special
Defense to take on Porygon, and can attack with Brick Break.
In OU Sneasel, Magmar and Electabuzz outspeed Porygon, and can attack
with Brick Break, the latter 2 whom are 2HKOed by even Tri Attack.
