Abra
is one of the fastest special sweepers in UU NFE, tying with Ponyta and
Meowth, and only losing out to Voltorb in a Speed match.
It also manages an extremely high Special Attack stat, who only Roselia
can outmuscle. This set works extremely similar to Kadabra in OU. The
listed attacks give the best options for Abra's use in UU NFE,
considering that Kadabra completely outclasses it in the OU
environment. Hidden Power Fighting is Abra's best option against the
likes of Aron, Nuzleaf, Shieldon, Houndour and Magnemite, while Shadow
Ball helps with other Psychics and Ghost-types, such as Kirlia,
Shuppet, Chingling and Exeggcute. Energy Ball is chosen to aid in
attacking Prinplup, Onix, Geodude and Staryu.
Because of Hidden Power Fighting, Abra cannot speed-tie with max Speed
Meowth, Ponyta and Poliwag in terms of Speed. The unnecessary Speed EVs
were dropped to allow Abra to still be able to outspeed Staryu,
Taillow, Wingull, Glameow and Buizel in UU, while giving Abra an extra
Life Orb'ed attack because of the HP investment.

This
set attempts to help take down the most common UU leads, most notably
Anorith, Onix, Glameow, Aipom, Rhyhorn, Omanyte and Roselia. Protect
nullifies Fake Out from Aipom and Glameow, while Taunt can be used
against utility leads and Stealth Rock leads to cripple them to the
point of possibly having to switch out. Energy Ball rips through
Omanyte, Onix and Rhyhorn, while Psychic is a OHKO against non-Sash'ed
Roselias. Focus Sash ensures that you survive Roselia's Leaf Storm in
enough time to KO it the next turn with Psychic because of Abra being
able to outspeed it.
The EVs are set to maximize Speed to allow Abra a chance to outspeed
Ponyta and Meowth for a OHKO on the latter, although Ponyta is a 2HKO.
KO'ing Ponyta is a risky feat, however, as both have the same Speed
stat.

Yet
another mirror of Kadabra. This set relies on set-up moves to allow
Abra a chance to use Substitute to block priority attack-users that
would normally be able to OHKO Abra. Because of Aipom, Glameow and
Meowth, however, this set doesn't serve as well for a lead as Kadabra
does in OU. Instead, this set works better later on in the game when
you suspect a foe will try to use a set-up move, allowing you to Encore
it, and get up a Substitute. Of course, common set-up lures, such as
low damage-dealing walls, are much more helpful to give this set an
opportunity to come in.

Abra
is as much of a threat in UU as its relative Kadabra is in OU. While it
is still highly hindered by priority attacks, it isn't outsped by such
a highly-used dangerous counter as Sneasel. As with Kadabra, Pokemon
who have high Defense and resistances to most priority attacks are very
helpful for a switch-out from Abra. The most common priority
attack-users in UU, including Buizel, the listed Aipom, Glameow and
Meowth, Duskull, Eevee, Bidoof, Phanpy, Omanyte, Kabuto and Riolu, are
nearly all hampered by bulky Fighting-type Pokemon. This makes
Combusken a notable teammate for Abra. While it doesn't provide very
good type synergy, its access to STAB Sky Uppercut and Night Slash make
nearly all of the listed priority users death fodder. Wartortle works the same way as Combusken as an anti-priority Pokemon,
but cannot get as many KOs with its Fighting-type Brick Break that Combusken can muscle with Sky
Uppercut. Lickitung
provides Ghost-type synergy with Abra, has access to Brick Break to
deal with most of these counters (as well as Power Whip), and has
enough Defense with the appropriate EV investment to take most priority
moves.
The Life Orb set and Encore sets are best used late in the game after
you ensure that the opponent doesn't have these dangerous priority
attack-users. Without them, the opponent is put in a very difficult
position, most of the time allowing you to sweep an entire team.

Houndour is Abra's main counter in UU NFE. It is resistant to both Energy Ball and
immune to Psychic, and can immediately threaten Abra with Sucker Punch. Duskull isn't OHKO'ed even by Shadow Ball, and
can shut Abra down with Shadow Sneak. Shuppet, Nidorina and Nidorino can use
Sucker Punch to take Abra down if it's running the special sweeper set,
although only the latter can be switched in safely, provided Energy
Ball or Hidden Power Fighting is predicted. Kirlia can come in on
Energy Ball or Psychic, and KO Abra with Shadow Sneak, as well. Wartortle has enough defenses to switch
into even Energy Ball, and immediately threaten Abra with Aqua Jet. Most other priority attack-users, including
Carvanha, Buizel, Glameow, Eevee, Makuhita, Croagunk, Swinub and Snover can immediately threaten Abra, but cannot
switch into any of its attacks.
